Walter “Walt” Whitman was an American poet, essayist, and journalist.
He was born May 31, 1819 in West Hills, New York.

Walt Whitman has been considered by many to be one of the most enlightened individuals who ever lived.
Canadian psychiatrist Richard M. Bucke published Cosmic Consciousness: A Study in the Evolution of the Human Mind regarded Walt Whitman as the “highest instance of Cosmic Consciousness” (above the Buddha and Jesus) partly because he was able to live a normal life among others and not become other worldly or detached.
To Whitman the world was a beautiful, incredible, fascinating place.
According to Bucke ,”His favorite occupation seemed to be strolling outdoors by himself, looking at the grass, the trees, the flowers, the vistas of light, the varying aspects of the sky, and listening to the birds, the crickets, the tree frogs, and all the hundreds of natural sounds. It was evident that these things gave him a pleasure far beyond what they give ordinary people.”
Divine am I inside and out, and I make holy water whatever I touch.
I see something of God each hour of the twenty-four, and each moment then,
In the faces of the men and women I see God, and in my own face in the glass.
– Walt Whitman, Song of Myself
I have heard what the talkers were talking the talk of the beginning and the end,
But I do not talk of beginning or end.
There was never any more inception than there is now,
Nor any more youth or age than there is now;
And will never be any more perfection than there is now,
Nor any more heaven or hell than there is now.
– Walt Whitman
Life doesn’t give You the people you want, It gives you The people you need: To love you, To hate you, To make you, To break you, And to make you the person you Were meant to be.

Happiness, not in another place but this place…not for another hour, but this hour.
– Walt Whitman
The earth is rude, silent, incomprehensible at first; Be not discouraged – keep on – there are divine things, well envelop’d; I swear to you there are divine things more beautiful than words can tell.
– Walt Whitman
Either define the moment or the moment will define you.
